Backburner

Here's some projects, both past and future, that have and/or will occupy my time:

"Nadir"
Title is in the works (as are most of my titles...nomenclature is not one of my strong points).  This is a short story/novelette that takes place in The Blood Queen universe, shortly after the events of Duskfall.  It involves a young merchant's daughter with what I can only describe as Tourette's syndrome, and a young nobleman with severe anger management issues whose royal family purges the kingdom of any and all "mental impurities."  Think Silver Linings Playbook with magic in a fantasy world.  Oh, did I not mention they can use magic?  They can.  Hijinks ensue.  So does chaos and destruction.

Steampunk Project
It's steampunk.  It's a project.  It's a super-top-secret project, actually, so that's really all the detail you'll get for now.  But it's steampunk, and steampunk is awesome.  Like, really, really awesome.

YA Novel A
A novel I began in the summer of 2010 for a YA Lit class I took as part of the MFA program. Basically, it's about heroes. And prophecies.  And the expectations of the public for said heroes because of said prophecies, and what happens when those expectations aren't fulfilled. There's also an elitist school, monsters, big bads, some questing, really mean kids, and much more. It's currently unfinished--sitting at about 20k words--but it's something I want to get back to in the nearish future.

YA Novel B
An attempt at YA humor and actually the original project I was working on for the aforementioned YA Lit class (until YA Novel A took over). It's sort of Harry Potter meets Twilight. No, seriously. Okay fine, it's more like Harry Potter meets Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, the Blob, a bunch of Romero films, maybe some Wes Craven films, some Stephen King stuff, and The Breakfast Club. During a dark, cold, stormy winter in Alaska. It might take me a while to get back to this one, but I think it has potential--and I've always wanted to try my hand at something more lighthearted and humorous.
