DAWNRISE Release Date (Revisited) - and Graphic Audio Adaptations!

I've got another update on the last book in the Chaos Queen Quintet. Unfortunately, DAWNRISE has once again been delayed, this time until April 2021.

Print, ebook, and regular audio version of DAWNRISE have been delayed until 6 April 2021.

I know a lot of people are not happy about this, and honestly, neither am I. This book ahs been completely finished since March (2020), but, well...COVID. I'm not really sure what else to say about it. My publisher furloughed a number of folks due to the global pandemic, and while they've hired a lot of them back on, it jammed quite a wrench into their production schedule. While I'm disappointed ya'll won't get to read Book 5 sooner, the situation is what it is, and I hope that when you DO finally read DAWNRISE in April, you'll be as happy about the ending to the Chaos Queen Quintet as I am.

There is a bright side to all of this, however. It seems George RR Martin and I will have at least one thing in common in that the adaptations of our work will be produced and available before the print versions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. (In my defense, once again, the book has been finished for some time, it just...isn't being printed, yet.) But Graphic Audio, the company that produces the fantastic audio adaptations (full cast, soundtrack, sound effects, etc.) of my work will be releasing Parts 1 and 2 of DAWNRISE in DECEMBER! So, if you just can't wait for the print version, you should definitely check out the Graphic Audio versions! Or, even better, get them both :-). I genuinely love Graphic Audio's adaptations, and I think they've done an excellent job with my entire series.

Part 1 of Graphic Audio's adaptation of DAWNRISE comes out December 8th!

Part 2 of Graphic Audio's adaptation of DAWNRISE comes out December 30th!

Anyway, a huge thanks to all of you who read my books, and I hope that, however you experience the ending of the Chaos Queen Quintet, it will be awesome on every level. 🖤

CHAOS QUEEN books 1-4 on sale at Graphic Audio!

The audio adaptations of my books are on sale at Graphic Audio! Use the SET30 discount code to get 30% off your purchase of the entire set! Sale ends on 8 September! Here's the link for the page to purchase the full set.
(Alternatively, if you'd rather just check out the Graphic Audio version of the first book, go here and use discount code FALL25 for a 25% discount until the end of September!)
Note that these are the audio adaptations--slightly different from the regular audiobooks. These have a full cast, soundtrack, and sound effects. More along the lines of a radio play than an audiobook. For what it's worth, I think they are AWESOME. I love these adaptations of my books, and I think they've portrayed almost every single one of the characters very accurately.
The set for sale right now includes:
DUSKFALL
DARK IMMOLATION Part 1
DARK IMMOLATION Part 2
BLOOD REQUIEM Part 1
BLOOD REQUIEM Part 2
FEAR THE STARS Part 1
FEAR THE STARS Part 2 (not out yet but will be soon)
So it doesn't include the forthcoming DAWNRISE adaptations, which aren't scheduled for release until late 2020.
Check them out!

BLOOD REQUIEM Part 1 Now Available on Graphic Audio

I'm very pleased with Graphic Audio's adaptations of my books. Their cast and crew do a wonderful job, producing high quality audio stuff with a full cast, soundtrack, and sound effects. It's a very different experience from a regular audiobook, but one I highly recommend. Check it out! Follow the link above to listen to an audio sample if you're not yet convinced.

AND it looks like they're running an early Black Friday deal--it's plastered across the top of their website, but you can get 25% off by entering the code!

And, of course, check out their adaptations of the previous books in the Chaos Queen Quintet:

Graphic Audio Dark Immolation Part 2 Now Available

The Graphic Audio adaptation of Part 2 of Dark Immolation is now available for purchase!

I've been making my way through their adaptation of book 2 and it has been awesome. Graphic Audio does a great job, and I think Nanette Savard's direction of DI has been on point. I'm also very happy with the casting and how they've represented the characters in the series so far.

Seriously, if you like listening to your books--or if you're just looking for something new--check out Graphic Audio!

A couple interviews

I've been involved in a couple interviews lately about my books. Both interviews have been with great folks. The first is an interview with Nanette Savard from Graphic Audio, a fantastic company I've gushed a lot about recently (they're doing phenomenal audio adaptations of my books with a full cast, music, sound effects, and so forth--seriously, it's awesome stuff, and you should check out their adaptation of Duskfall and Dark Immolation [Part 1 and Part 2]), and I had a lot of fun doing the interview with her. We discuss Dark Immolation, their adaptation of the book, my writing process, and more. You can find the interview on iTunes here, or wherever you get your podcasts through Graphic Audio's Behind the Mic podcast.

The second interview is with Daniel Swenson of Dungeon Crawlers Radio. We discuss Blood Requiem, book three of the Chaos Queen Quintet. I had a lot of fun with this one as well. You can find that interview on their website here, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Alcan Drive

I went on an adventure a couple weeks ago and it was pretty great.

I drove down the Alcan Highway (the highway that runs from Alaska and down the majority of Canada), and continued south until I arrived home in Utah.

It was cool. I really enjoyed the first three days of the trip in particular. I took six days to do it--not too fast and not too slow, and I was able to get some writing done on a lot of days as well--and my stops included the following awesomely named places: Destruction Bay, Toad River, Grand Prairie, Red Deer. Also Helena, Montana.

I listened to the audio version of Ready Player One, which I have many opinions about, but will save them for later. I also listened to various episodes of The Adventure Zone podcast, Bossypants by Tina Fey, Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick, and the Graphic Audio version of The Warded Man by Peter V. Brett (it was like a 50 hour drive so I had a lot of listening time, and it was actually pretty cool).

If you ever have the opportunity to make the drive, I recommend it. It's definitely an adventure (especially in late March/early April, which is definitely still Winter in AK and Canada), and I enjoyed it.

The following are a series of selfies and other photos I took on the trip that are surprisingly boring but constitute the majority of my documentation from the thing.

Prepping for the trip. Northern Canada doesn't have wifi or cellular service for hundreds of miles at a time, so I had to tackle it old school.

Departing from my parents' home in Eagle River, AK.

Getting gas in Glennallen. Hey, I warned you these wouldn't be exciting.

Where I stayed in Destruction Bay.

Notice my incredibly versatile selfie expressions. Also sunrise as I left Destruction Bay. Also, Edward M. Kovel accompanied me on my quest.

Hot Springs in Liard River.

The roads were usually much better than this. The views were typically this awesome.

On rare occasion, the roads were like this. What road, you ask? That sheet of ice. Yeah. That sheet of ice is the road.

Biggest mall in North America in Edmonton. My fuzzy black sweatshirt was my constant companion, if you couldn't tell. Other than in the hot springs, clearly.

DARK IMMOLATION Part 1 for FREE on Graphic Audio!

Repeat: you can listen to part 1 of Dark Immolation FOR FREE!

If the idea of listening to a Graphic Audio adaptation has intrigued you, but you've yet to commit, now is a perfect time to try it out.

And, with Blood Requiem on schedule to be released on 5 June, this is a great way to review some of what happens in Dark Immolation, and experience a new medium while you're at it! I honestly don't know if this will be available permanently, so I highly recommend checking it out while you have the chance!

Dark Immolation on Graphic Audio!

Some of you may remember me raving about the Graphic Audio version of Duskfall last year when it came out. To wit: they did a fantastic job adapting the book, and it is a delight to listen to.

Well, I'm happy to say they've done it again! The Graphic Audio version of Dark Immolation: Part 1 (they're doing Book 2 in two parts; you can see the order page for Part 2 here, and it should be finished in a few months) is AWESOME. These folks really know what they're doing, and I really like how they interpret the stories I'm telling.

Also, I really like that cover image. 👌👍🙌💯🔥💀

GraphicAudio Version of DUSKFALL!

Hey everyone! For those of you who aren't aware, the audiobook version of Duskfall has been available since the book's release date last year (on Amazon/Audible, iTunes, and pretty much anywhere audiobooks are sold). The audio version of Duskfall is fantastic--Adam Verner does a wonderful job with the narration (and says some nice things about the book on his blog)--and if you're into audiobooks at all, you should definitely check it out!

Great news, though--another audio adaptation of Duskfall was released TODAY, and this time it's from GraphicAudio! GraphicAudio does some pretty cool stuff--their tagline is "A movie in your mind," and they basically produce dramatic adaptations of books, a la the radio dramas of the early 20th century, with soundtracks, a full cast, and sound effects. I've already listened to the first bit of GraphicAudio's Duskfall adaptation, and it is awesome. If you like audiobooks, if you like Duskfall, or if you're just looking for something different, you should definitely check out this version. You can purchase the digital version of Duskfall from GraphicAudio for $13.00, or the CD version for $19.99. If you want a sample, here's a 5-minute sequence from the middle of the book (slight spoilers, of course, but nothing huge). It's pretty intense, and very cool. Enjoy!
